225EvaChen.jpgEva Chen grew up around fashion and made it her career, first at some of the most glamorous magazines on the newsstand, and now at Instagram as the director of fashion partnerships. This year Chen decided to put her talents to use in a totally new arena: a fun and fashionable children's picture book called Juno Valentine and the Magical Shoes.

So what has the fashionista author been reading this year? See Eva Chen's picks and why she chose them below, and look here for the latest celebrity favorites.

Wolf in the Snow by Matthew Cordell

A haiku of an picture book, the illustrations are simultaneously spare, quirky, and warm. My kids love that the story changes every time (because the book has no words) but that the message—family = home—always persists. Also, because there are no words, my toddler can "read" it herself.

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas

This series is one of my all-time favorites! It has everything—Shape shifters! Assassins! Fairies! Pirates! And, of course, the requisite dark underlords threatening our very existence! I reread this series this year in anticipation of the final book coming out in 2019 and Sarah Maas is one of my "if you could invite anyone to dinner..." dream guests.

Vogue: The Covers by Dodie Kazanjian

When I was a junior editor, I used to spend hours in the Conde Nast library to gobble up vintage Vogue covers. This book spans decades—my favorites are the illustrations from the early 1900s. An essential coffee table book!

CIRCE by Madeline Miller

An immensely readable up-all-night retelling of the Greek myth. You'll learn more about Circe in this one 431-page book than an entire semester of Greek Mythology.
