Let's Go (So We Can Get Back) is not your typical rock star biography. Tweedy's tales are relatable and funny, and his prose comes off as natural, personal, and self-deprecating. His accounts of his many highs and lows  are affecting but not overwrought. But mostly it's fun to read about an artist who has steadfastly walked his own line, one that happens to define the border between unsung and overexposed. Here are a few of the books that that have lately made an impression on him.

The spirit of this book, its generosity and enthusiasm all work to support John’s preferred status as a “Freak” not a “Snob.” I love records. I love books. A beautiful book about crazy rare and out-of-print records?! Heaven. —Jeff Tweedy

There’s a quietness to Annie Dillard’s books that I’ve never found in anyone else’s writing. Deeply focused introspections of nature, self and religion that read like a leisurely stroll through a still, serene and lushly wooded mind. —Jeff Tweedy
