The Best Cookbooks of February

February is a really popular month for new vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, so rest assured that the ones you see on our list of the 10 best cookbooks this month had some tough competition.  I toyed with making it meatless month, but that would be no fun for us dairy loving carnivores.  I am inspired to incorporate more vegan/vegetarian dishes into my routine after checking out this month's favorites.

Our number one cookbook pick for February is Between Harlem and Heaven: Afro-Asian-American Cooking for Big Nights, Weeknights, and Every DayIn 100 recipes authors JJ Johnson and Alexander Smalls pay homage to the African and Asian Diasporas that are at the heart of today's vibrant cuisines of Harlem.

The founder of the blog Chocolate for Basil brings her childhood memories and experience of food as connection to a cookbook.  In her recipes Jerrelle Guy offers the flexibility home bakers need to easily adapt to gluten or dairy restrictions.  I made her Orange Peel Pound Cake and it was amazing.  It lasted one day (probably not even 24 hours if I'm being honest) in my house before every crumb was gone.
