Author Madeleine Thien Wins Canada's Top Literary Prize

GillerMadeleine Thien has won the Giller Prize for her novel Do Not Say We Have Nothing.

A multi-generational novel that explores the survivors of Mao's Cultural Revolution and reaches to the events of Tiananmen Square, the book was also shortlisted for the UK's Man Booker Prize.

The prize grants a $100,000 to the winner and is widely considered to be Canada's most prestigious literary award.
