Kwana Jackson's 2020 summer reads

Kwana Jackson is the best-selling author of Real Men Knit, a feel-good romance perfect for those that love the hilarity of family banter and the buildup of friendship turned into something more. Jackson is a longtime advocate of equality and diversity in the romance genre, and we are thrilled she’s shared her summer reading picks with us.

Reading has always been my greatest mental wind down and escape. A welcome refuge when the world needs to be shut out. And summer has traditionally been the time for those books I look forward to as my special treats. The ones saved for reading on the long-looked-forward-to and hard-earned vacations. Dreamt about and imagined while sipping a frothy cocktail on the beach. While this summer may not look like the one imagined, with social distancing necessarily still in place, these picks will still be the perfect mental getaway, whether you're relaxing in your backyard, on the couch, or sunning on a lounge (properly spaced from your neighbor) cool drink at hand. —Kwana Jackson

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

I’ve always been a fan of Farrah Rochon and The Boyfriend Project hits all the right buttons for me. It’s smart, sexy, modern, and funny. You get a fabulous romance, female friendships, plus a fresh and frank look at workplace dynamics you don’t often get in romance. I adored it.

Always the Last to Know by Kristan Higgins

No one does family sagas like Kristan Higgins. She brings incredible emotion with so much wit and humor that you’re pulled in from the very first lines. I found myself laughing out loud on page one. Always the Last to Know is another winner with characters you know and root for all the way through.

ImPerfectly Happy by Sharina Harris

This debut from Sharina Harris shines, giving me warm feelings of Waiting to Exhale set in present day. Raina, Kara, Nikki, and Sienna—the lifelong best friends in this novel—quickly become yours too. You know these women and feel their emotions.

Island Affair by Priscilla Oliveras

A fake relationship set in beautiful Key West without my leaving me couch? This is the type of getaway I’m talking about! Not to mention, Priscilla Oliveras writes gorgeous romances full of heart and emotion with just enough steamy tension to keep your pulse racing.
