Awards season is here! Earlier this week, the National Book Foundation announced their Longlists for Young People's Literature and Nonfiction, and today they wrapped up the week with their selections for Fiction.
368 books were submitted by publishers for the award, judged by Chris Bachelder, Laila Lalami (Chair), Min Jin Lee, Laurie Muchnick, and Chinelo Okparanta. First given in 1950, previous winners of the National Book Award include Flannery O'Connor, William Faulkner, Ralph Ellison, Alice Walker, Annie Proulx, and Charles Johnson. Finalists will be revealed on October 10, and the winners will be revealed at the Foundation's annual gala in November.
