Picture This: Inside the Magical World of "The Ink House"

TheInkHouse_200.jpgOne of the great pleasures of my job is finding hidden gems among the hundreds of children's books that come across my desk. When I first looked at Rory Dobner's The Ink House I knew I'd found one such treasure. A beautiful artist's mansion, built on a great reservoir of ink, is a source of inspiration for all who live there. The story is what happens when the artist leaves for his annual adventure and the animals who share his home host a party for their eccentric and imaginative friends.

Below are some of Dobner's extraordinary illustrations in progress and how they appear in the finished book.  I hope you are as delighted as I am by the detail and creativity that went into this very special children's book. You can click on each image to see a larger version.
