KateTheChemist.jpgAs we start another week of having kids at home, many of us are looking for creative activities to keep them busy and their minds engaged.  Enter Dr. Kate Biberdorf, aka Kate the Chemist, who's been described as a new, cooler, version of Bill Nye the Science Guy (sorry, Bill...). Biberdorf has earned high praise from adults and kids who've seen her breathe fire or make giant candy canes on national television, including the Today Show and Stephen Colbert, or from her popular Puking Pumpkin Tour.

Biberdorf has a new book called Kate the Chemist: The Big Book of Experiments that gives readers ages 8-12 a chance to perform some of her popular experiments on the home stage.  Each of the 25 experiments is STEM based, and Biberdorf's style puts curiosity and entertainment at the forefront, showing young people that science doesn't have to be boring. Activities in the book include making Unicorn Glue, a Potato Night Light, and more.  Below are two sample activities from Kate the Chemist: The Big Book of Experiments-- click on the images to view larger, and have fun!
